Meeting with Gen Re and Scholarship Award Ceremony 2023

On the afternoon of November 22, 2023, UEH College of Technology and Design (UEH-CTD) was honored to hold the second meeting with delegates and specialists from General Reinsurance AG, Singapore Branch (Gen Re).

Attending the ceremony, from Gen Re Company, there were Mr. Timothy Chong - Head of Mainland Southeast Asia and Mr. Martin Dao - Marketing Actuary. On behalf of UEH-CTD, there was the presence of Dr. Ha Van Son - Vice Dean of the School of Mathematics and Statistics; Dr. Tran Thi Tuan Anh - Vice Dean of the School of Mathematics and Statistics; Mr. Pham Tri Cao - Deputy Head of Department of Economics Mathematics; Ms. Bui Thi Le Thuy - Director of Risk Analysis and Insurance Pricing Program; with the participation of a large number of UEH students.

Representing Gen Re Company, Mr. Timothy Chong and Mr. Martin Dao expressed their excitement when meeting and interacting with UEH students. The specialists enthusiastically shared about the role of reinsurance in the stability of insurance as well as career opportunities in the field of Risk Analysis and Insurance Pricing.

According to the MoU between UEH-CTD and Gen Re signed in September 2023, Gen Re will award 10 scholarships with a total value of 2,340 USD to UEH-CTD students who attend and pass the professional exam for actuarial specialists of the Society of Actuaries - SOA (USA). Within the framework of the meeting, UEH-CTD and Gen Re Company jointly commended and awarded Gen Re 2023 scholarships to 10 students with good academic achievements and excellently passed the SOA exam. The list of students receiving scholarships included:

1. Nguyen Ngoc Anh (Total number of SOA exams passed: 5; Average score: 9.07)

2. Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi (Total number of SOA exams passed: 2; Average score: 8.98)

3. Pham Tan Phat (Total number of SOA exams passed: 2; Average score: 8.63)

4. Pham Nguyen Ngoc Phuong (Total number of SOA exams passed: 2; Average score: 8.18)

5. Le Phuc Thinh (Total number of SOA exams passed: 3; Average score: 8)

6. Le Trung Truc (Total number of SOA exams passed: 3; Average score: 8.61)

7. Nguyen Phan Thien Vu (Total number of SOA exams passed: 3; Average score: 8.58)

8. Nguyen Ngoc Truc Linh (Total number of SOA exams passed: 2; Average score: 8.84)

9. Nguyen Khoi Nguyen (Total number of SOA exams passed: 3; Average score: 8.86)

10. Ho Thi Ngoc Quyen (Total number of SOA exams passed: 2; Average score: 7.66)
