On the morning of November 4, 2023, UEH - Vinh Long Campus organized the Opening Ceremony of Full-time K49 (The Next UEH Gen: Smart & Green) and a Series of Activities to Welcome New Students (Building an innovative start-up incubator, opening the Internship and Career Fair 2023, and other activities) and a meeting to celebrate the 41^st anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2023)

Opening Ceremony of Full-time K49 - The Next UEH Gen: Smart & Green

In 2023, UEH - Vinh Long Campus welcomes the next Gen Z to the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) with nearly 500 new full-time students in 14 programs, 13 students from provinces/cities in the Mekong Delta and 21 other provinces/cities in the country listed as Hanoi, Bac Giang, Dak Nong, Dien Bien, Nam Dinh, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Ninh Thuan, Thanh Hoa, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, etc.

The program was also pleased to welcome teachers and representatives of the Board of Directors of Universities, Colleges, and High Schools inside and outside Vinh Long Province.

Besides, you know how to proactively explore and refine knowledge, develop your thinking from the smallest things around you to new knowledge of humanity; learn and fluently use a foreign language, especially English, as a basis for integration and becoming a global citizen. The 5.0 era will take place and the timeline is determined very closely. Unlike 4.0, human resources of the 5.0 era require the ability to "Understand, know and master technology". At the Opening Ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh - Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairwoman of Vinh Long Provincial People’s Committee congratulated the school and the new K49 students at UEH Vinh Long Campus. Besides, she remarked: "Recognizing the positive contributions of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City Vinh Long Campus in training human resources for the locality in recent times." She also said: "UEH together with the education system of the Province, the leaders of Vinh Long Province, the tradition of solidarity, the spirit of innovation and creativity, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City will keep affirming its position to become a modern, advanced, prestigious and reputable scientific research and training center domestically and internationally, serving the development of high-quality human resources and the development of socio-economic of the southern provinces and the whole country". In the joyful atmosphere of the month of gratitude to those working in education, Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh sent her appreciation to lecturers: "On the occasion of the upcoming Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, on behalf of the leaders of the People's Committee of Vinh Long Province, I would like to send my best wishes to all the teachers. In the joy of the opening day at Vinh Long Campus, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of the University Council congratulated the new students and instructed the Board of Directors of Vinh Long Campus and the student generation at the Campus: "It is necessary to evaluate outstanding results of the Campus in the past 5 years of establishment, and orientation of the Campus’s key activities in the next 5 years (2025-2030). In the process of organizing activities, priority should be given to integrating major activities of UEH in 2024 to the activities of the Campus, ensuring the effective use of UEH's general resources. Through the activities organized to spread the brand of UEH in general and Vinh Long Campus in particular in the Mekong Delta region; Vinh Long Campus must develop a plan to launch emulation and organize a series of activities to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Campus’ establishment. In particular, it is necessary to develop a Development Plan for Vinh Long Campus in the next 5 years (2025-2030) in the spirit of a multidisciplinary and sustainable member of UEH University. In addition, UEH member colleges select and coordinate with Vinh Long Campus to jointly organize UEH-level activities in training, research, scientific conferences, and community connection to contribute to the development of the Mekong Delta and the whole country".

The ceremony moved on to a sharing from the representative of a new K49 student, Lam Thi Kim Yen - majoring in Marketing - valedictorian: "Becoming a student at University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City is the dream of many young people after completing high school, including me. I myself once set my goal of studying at UEH, as well as being able to get into other universities in Ho Chi Minh City. However, during the process of inquiring about UEH, I learned that even in my hometown of Vinh Long, there is also a UEH campus. I feel that studying at this UEH campus will have the advantage of paying 70% of the tuition fee. At the main campus, the living standard in Vinh Long is consistent with the general level in the Mekong Delta provinces. Costs are not too high and are suitable for the majority of families in the Mekong Delta. While studying at the Campus, we have the opportunity to transfer to the main campus after 5 semesters of study, which is an opportunity for me and my peer students to experience different learning environments and get familiar with the learning environment to be more stable when continuing to study in the most vibrant city in the country. These are the things that made me consider and choose VLC as the destination for my university journey. I firmly believe that is also the reason why the majority of the new K49 students sitting here decided to choose to study at VLC. Lam Thi Kim Yen also represented the new students: "to send our the most sincere and profound gratitude to the lecturers - the silent boatmen. We would like to thank the lecturers for their dedication and support in their teaching career, leading us on the path of growing intellectually, living responsibly with family and contributing to society. We would like to send our deepest gratitude to our lecturers."

At the ceremony, in order to recognize the efforts of newly admitted students with high entrance scores for each method, the school commended and awarded certificates of merit, rewards and scholarships to 4 valedictorians with a scholarship of 23,500,000 VND and awarded certificates of merit, rewards and scholarships to 3 salutatorians with a scholarship of 18,500,000 million VND/. In addition, UEH commended and awarded admission scholarships to 75 new students, of which there were 4 Excellence scholarships (worth 13,500,000 VND/scholarship), 10 Full scholarships (worth 9,000,000 VND/scholarship) and 24 Partial scholarships (worth 4,500,000 VND/scholarship), awarded 100% of students in 3 majors: Agricultural Business, Technology and Innovation, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence with 3 full scholarships (9,000,000 VND) and 24 partial scholarships (4,500,000 VND).

At the same time, with the policy of encouragement, although all students have different conditions, circumstances, and abilities, UEH creates fair opportunities so that no one is left behind, everyone can seize the opportunity to achieve their dreams, Vinh Long Campus awarded 10 scholarships to support learning for new students in difficult circumstances, including 04 full scholarships (worth 9,000,000 VND) and 06 Partial scholarship (worth 4,500,000 VND).

SInce then, the K49 student generation would officially depart on a new journey, determining the best version they want with their own efforts and the values of UEH to become a new student generation ready to lead sustainable change.

Starting the construction of an innovative startup incubator at Vinh Long Campus.

Building a dynamic and modern working environment that inspires creative and unique ideas to be nurtured and developed is also the goal that UEH has been aiming for. On this occasion, UEH organized the “Groundbreaking ceremony of UEH Mekong innovation startup incubator" at Vinh Long Campus. This event once again affirms UEH’s commitment and determination to develop an innovative startup ecosystem in Vinh Long Province, and thereby spreading and expanding more in the Mekong Delta region to accompany the young generation on their entrepreneurial journey. Establishing the Mekong innovation startup incubator will be a solid launching pad for developing students’ ideas from school, helping young people with startup ideas, supporting and connecting domestic and international resources to develop startup projects into successful startups, and promoting local potentials and strengths in the fields of agriculture, tourism, education, and health.

"Internship and Career Fair" was held for the first time at Vinh Long Campus

"Internship and Career Fair" is an annual activity that University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City is always interested in and organizes at the Ho Chi Minh City campus to connect with businesses and to train high quality human resources for the labor market not only in Vietnam but also globally. The "Internship and Career Fair" was held for the first time at Vinh Long Campus, which was a very important event helping school students access and seize many opportunities to get good jobs. It was also a solution that University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City wishes to provide businesses with quality human resources from the results of the training this year and in the following years. This fair received the participation of 25 businesses and provided more than 1,000 job opportunities for students in provinces/cities in the Mekong Delta listed as Vinh Long, Can Tho, Tra Vinh, Tien Giang, Dong Thap, and foreign invested enterprises, media companies, financial companies, etc.
